How did you end up with Team NewCold?
Through my coaches, Tom Corstjens and Melissa Boekelman. Melissa, who was a brakewoman herself, participated in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi with bobsleigh.
What do you find the coolest about the sport you practice within Team NewCold?
What I find the coolest about bobsleigh is the speed. When you have a run that goes flawlessly and it feels like you're rocketing down the ice track, it's an indescribable feeling. This is incredibly cool with monobob, but also with two-woman bobsleigh. The teamwork you perform together with your brakewoman and the ultimate performance you achieve as a pilot give you an extra thrill.
What is a unique trait/fact about yourself?
I always do two Hail Mary's before the start.
Do you have tips for young athletes who want to be successful in bobsleigh?
Believe in yourself, stay positive, and focus on your own path. No one else can do it for you, only you. I strongly believe in that.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Hopefully, I will have just completed the Olympics and maybe already be training for the next Games!
What has been your biggest achievement within Team NewCold so far?
I have a lot of good moments but one of them is that at the European Cup U23 in Winterberg I finished 4th with two-woman and thus won a medal together with my brakewoman. That was a great reward!
